Leaders Eat Last: The Characteristics of Great Leaders

Provided by:

Course Description

Just because someone is in a leadership role, does not mean they are a capable leader. What distinguishes a great leader? Great leaders are unselfish and genuinely care for their team.In Simon Sineks book, Leaders Eat Last, the author uses the US Marines Corps as a leadership example because when the Marines eat a meal, the officers literally eat last. The lower ranking Marines eat their meals first. What else distinguishes real leaders? Leaders show respect, they lead, are trustworthy, take responsibility upon themselves, etc. We will discuss a game plan of how to become a more effective leader with vivid examples. Great leaders empathize. Great teams trust each other, and the Marines trust each other with their lives would you want your team to be so cohesive that they trust each other with their lives? Great leaders put the needs of the team above their personal needs, and the teams respond.Sinek says, Everything about being a leader is like being a parent. It is about committing to the well-being of those in our care and having a willingness to make sacrifices to see their interests advanced so that they may carry our banner long after we are gone. This event may be a rebroadcast of a live event and the instructor will be available to answer your questions either during or after the event.
