The development of leaders and leadership potential is one of the critical challenges of our time. In this course, you will learn to identify the qualities of effective leaders and the principles of effective leadership by examining and understanding the Five Levels of Influence. By understanding the Five Levels of Influence, you will also be able to evaluate leadership and leadership potential and mentor and develop other leaders within an organization. In addition, you will learn to appreciate how there is a leadership role for all types of individuals and how leadership effectiveness can contribute to the betterment of your organization as well as society as a whole.
1. Define the essence of leadership and differentiate between more effective and less effective leadership. 2. Identify the foundational qualities of good leadership and apply them to the development of leadership potential in individuals. 3. Distinguish the three levels of motivation, from shallow to deep, and how they apply to effective leadership. 4. Employ the steps in the Cycle of Achievement Model to the development of effective leadership. 5. Develop and employ a set of goals to a game plan in order to carry out a vision within an organization. 6. Assess effective leadership and leadership potential by applying the Trilateral Leadership Ledger. 7. Identify and explain the Five Levels of Influence how they define effective leadership. 8. Explain the importance of reading and other forms of learning and distinguish between the roles that coaches and mentors play in the development of effective leadership. 9. Identify the five leadership levels and distinguish between lower and higher levels of leadership in assessing and developing leadership potential and effectiveness. 10. Recognize the importance of developing other leaders within an organization and employ effective mentoring practices in the development of individuals with leadership potential. 11. Evaluate leadership effectiveness by the long-term impact of a leader on succeeding generations.
