There are many facets to the concept of quality control. CPA firms need to be familiar with the guidance in the quality control standards, understand the six elements of quality control, create a quality control system over their accounting and auditing practice, and prepare to undergo peer review. This course provides an introduction to all those concepts. Chapter 1 discusses quality control as a whole, including Statement on Quality Control Standards No. 8; developing, implementing, and maintaining a quality control system; and what to expect during peer review. Chapters 2 and 3 examine the six elements of quality control in more detail.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of Quality Control for CPA Firms, the user should be able to:recognize the basic concepts of quality control, including the requirements of SQCS No. 8; a firm's commitment to quality; and how to develop, implement, and maintain a quality control system,identify appropriate strategies for developing quality control policies and procedures and what a firm should expect during peer review,recognize how leadership, ethical requirements, and acceptance and continuance should be represented in a firm's quality control system, andidentify methods for incorporating human resources, engagement performance, and monitoring into a firm's quality control system.
